Difference Between Vegan And Vegetarian

On 28/06/2021 by Jean Schultz

Veganism and vegetarianism are two different lifestyles that both have their own set of pros and cons. Vegetarian diets exclude meat from the diet, while vegan diets also exclude all animal products such as eggs or dairy. This is a post about the difference in lifestyle between vegans and vegetarians, so you can decide which one to adopt for yourself.

What is veganism

For starters, let’s talk about what vegan means. Vegans do not consume any animal products whatsoever – no meat, eggs, or dairy. Some vegans also avoid honey because it can’t be guaranteed that there are no animal by-products in it either (like bee pollen). Vegetarians on the other hand don’t eat any type of meat but they will sometimes still eat things like eggs or dairy.

Benefits of being a vegan or vegetarian

How often do you find yourself debating whether or not to order the vegetarian option at your favorite restaurant? If this happens more than once a week, then it might be time for you to make a change. Maybe veganism is right for you. There are many benefits that come with being vegan aside from saving animals and the environment–you could potentially lose weight too! Vegan foods are generally low in calories, fat, and cholesterol which can lead to decreased risk of heart disease. But before making any drastic changes, read up on what it means to be vegan and how beneficial it can be for your health overall.

vegan lifestyleMany people have a misconception that veganism is an unhealthy diet. You may be surprised to find out that many of the top-level athletes in the world are either vegetarian or vegan and some even do raw food diets. Vegetarians and vegans can get all their protein needs by eating beans, soy products, nuts, seeds, dairy substitutes like almond milk and rice milk instead of cow’s milk. There are plenty of great recipes for both vegetarians and vegans alike online if you’re interested in giving it a try!

Healthy living is about feeling good inside and outside as well as making healthy choices. A vegan lifestyle does just this with its focus on plant-based foods which contain less saturated fat than those from animals.
